چکیده

FIG. I Superior and inferior rectus muscles are displaced temporally, the nasal tip of each muscle being attached at the temporal end of the original insertion and the temporal tip being attached at the upper or lower end of the lateral rectus. The direction of the vertical rectus muscles is thereby changed, so that they abduct instead ofadducting. The operation is completed with a recession of the medial rectus

Detailed magnetic resonance imaging findings of the ocular motor nerves in Duane's retraction syndrome.

PURPOSE To study the neuroanatomic characteristics of patients with Duane's retraction syndrome with high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging. METHODS The study included 11 consecutive cases, including five patients with type I, one patient with type II, four patients with type III, and one patient with inverse Duane's retraction syndrome. The patients underwent magnetic resonance imaging o...

Congenital inverse Duane's retraction syndrome: A rare presentation

A 12-year-old girl presented with esotropia and face turn since birth. Ocular motility examination showed restricted abduction associated with down shoot and retraction on attempted abduction characteristic of inverse Duane's retraction syndrome. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the very few reported cases of congenital inverse Duane's retraction syndrome.

Motion perception tested with reversing grating in Duane's syndrome.

Many papers have reported that motion perception asymmetry (MPA) is replaced by motion perception symmetry (MPS) by the 4th to 5th month after birth, when stereopsis starts to occur in normal infants. Duane's syndrome is a congenital motor abnormality, it does, however, reportedly show good stereopsis. We confirmed the stereopsis in Duane's syndrome and checked the motion perception (MP) by usi...

Duane's retraction syndrome.

DUANE'S retraction syndrome (Duane, 1905) is frequently but not invariably associated with convergent strabismus when the eyes are in the primary position (Duke-Elder, 1964); if a head-turn is present, it will be in the direction of action of the paretic lateral rectus muscle. In the atypical retraction syndrome, the medial rectus is more paretic than the lateral rectus muscle; there is exophor...

Magnetic resonance imaging in Duane's retraction syndrome.

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to visualize the subarachnoid portion of the nervus abducens by magnetic resonance imaging and to analyze whether aplasia of the nervus abducens is an etiologic factor in Duane's retraction syndrome. METHODS We performed thin-sectioned magnetic resonance imaging across the brainstem level in 8 cases (11 eyes) that were clinically diagnosed as Duane's retracti...
